Pomegranate

This photo was taken by my beautiful friend Val in Pasadena, CA Here are some great benefits I found in an article … “It can help to prevent heart disease, relieve stress and has  even been shown to improve your sex life. And if that was not enough to convince you to try pomegranate, the fruit is now being hailed as the elixir of youth. A £2million study has found a daily dose could slow the ageing process of DNA. An extract of the whole fruit – including pith, peel and seeds – was given to 60 volunteers every day … Continue reading Pomegranate

The New ‘Normal’

This morning I have been on my Facebook page and the subject came up about treating ourselves when we’ve been good and that usually that treat is to feel normal because we have removed bad things from our diet. Di and I were commenting on a post where someone was asking whether there is a yeast free alcohol available and her comments are inspirational and very honest. “… for the ones who have just separated themselves from eating like everyone else around them (when on realisation it is them who suffer from ailments), it is difficult sometimes to just go … Continue reading The New ‘Normal’

The Onion

I’ve often heard the analogy that healing is “like peeling away layers of an onion”. If only … I have a lot of ‘if only’ running through my mind at the moment and there’s one thing I know for sure – I can’t go back and change them … so how do I accept the not-so-loving choices I’ve made in my life? The unfoldment of the amazing work-in-progress that I am is allowing me the opportunity to choose another way of treating myself – I have been and can be very hard on myself for choices that have not been … Continue reading The Onion

The Hunger Games

I’ve recently watched the movie, The Hunger Games – where, in one world, excess exists and the other depravation – and there is no middle ground. Are we playing a game with food at every turn? If so, does the body always lose when we are extreme with food? When was the last time you actually felt hungry?  Eating is obviously essential to our survival, but nowadays we don’t have to get it with a bow and arrow. Though sometimes the market on a Saturday morning feels like a battle field! I’m sat here now on a Sunday morning having … Continue reading The Hunger Games

Listen to and Trust Your Body

We are told about the food pyramid and that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. We are also told that fibre is best sourced from grains and calcium from dairy. What we are all discovering (especially those reading this blog) is that our bodies are telling us something different. “I won’t give up coffee/wine/beer/cheese/milk/bread/chocolate – I just can’t” – if I had a dollar for every time I’ve heard this I would be a rich woman! The food we are eating is making us sick and we are ‘comfort eating’’ to not feel our hurts – because … Continue reading Listen to and Trust Your Body

My incredible friend Fiona Shuttleworth is a Breakfast Queen. Her passion for the first meal of the day is truly mind-boggling and her creations are a glorious reflection of the love for her beautiful body and her connection to her needs and her tummy’s desires! My Inspirational Friend – Jane Keep

I’ve just uploaded just some of the amazing recipes Jane Keep honours her body with. Jane is a trainer in the corporate world of the Health System in the UK and her dedication to her work is continually inspiring to me. http://www.janekeep.co.uk/ But the only way she has the sustainability to continue her long hours and varied clients is the way she honours her body with food. Jane and I have always explored recipes together and it was her seeking new recipes to try that initiated the creation of the ‘Free’ Recipe Sharing community page on Facebook. Her journey with … Continue reading My Inspirational Friend – Jane Keep
